What Surrounds Us
By Crown Affair
It’s been said that you are “the average” of the five people you surround yourself with the most. In other words, us humans are highly influenced by those we keep near and dear. And although we are all individuals with our own ideas and beliefs, research suggests that we're more affected by our environment than we think. We believe the same can be said about the things you surround yourself with.
The things that are in your purview, what you see and interact with on a daily basis, have the power to shape you - they inform your life, your decision making, your perspective, and ultimately how you move through the world. For instance, keeping indoor plants in your home has proven health benefits like reducing your stress levels, sharpening your attention span, and boosting your productivity. Or when it comes to hair care, traveling with your favorite comb can offer a gentle reminder to take time for yourself.
Surrounding yourself with beautiful things is a simple tactic that anyone can practice to enhance and uplevel your life. Rather than buying things for the sake of just having more pretty things, we recommend you incorporate beautiful things with intention. Buy less but buy better. You may even benefit from getting rid of what you don’t love. Each item you have, whether it’s new artwork or a new comforter or a new hair brush, should serve a clear purpose in your life. Make space for those magical, special pieces that you love. Find the things that inspire you, that light you up, and make you feel like a better you.
